BNugget created the topic: Oscar laying on bottom of tank curved

Hello! I'm new to this site.
I currently work at a fish store and there is an oscar I'm going to buying. He's about an inch and a half long, still young. When he first came into the store (about a month or two ago) I noticed he has a swim problem. He lays at the bottom of the tank curved. He doesn't swim around like a normal fish would. I can't tell if he has an injured fin or what. I can only get him to swim up to surface for food. Other than that he is at the bottom on the rocks. Any idea what it could be??

Thank you!

Hi there, welcome to our community. Sounds like it could be some kind of birth deformity. Being so young, he's not really have much chance to be exposed to poor water conditions for a long period of time which normally affects face. Apart from the problems swimming, is it feeding?

I may not always be right, but I am always the BOSS :-)
