So another quick question, what kind of filters should I have for him when he's bigger? I have two whisper filters right now but I don't know if they're working as well as they should. I have two other filters in storage I could use too if needed

There's never such a thing as too much filtration, but those whisper filters should suffice for the duration of his life. If you really want to be sure you never have to worry about not having adaquate filtration then I would suggest buying a large canister filter. They are easy to use, easy to clean, they filter out a much higher volume of the water in the tank with less effort, and you can store all finds of media in them to allow the bacteria to cling to and thrive!

Its something to research, but for now your set up seems ok. You'll have plenty of time to look through and see if a canister filter is the way you want to go. It took me 2 years before switching to one, and now I'll never use a HOB again. I love my canister filter that much!

This morning I was planning to get some frozen peas from the store, but he had passed away about 10 minutes before I left. It was sudden, and I assumed it was just swim bladder. I was heartbroken, so I took him back to petco, and the aquatic specialist was kind enough to give me store credit so next time I go in, they'll check the water sample I brought to make sure my tank water is non-toxic so I can get a new Oscar. Probably won't be able to get an albino like Tigger was, but maybe I can find one when I go. :/
