So Friday before the blizzard my wife says they shut everyone's water off for a few hours to put something in the pipes so they don't freeze. So is this water safe for water changes? I mean still drinking it so I would think. Plan on testing it first but that won't pull chemicals.

The stuff that they normally put in water is to kill bacteria. I've never actually heard of water companies putting additives into the water to stop pipes from freezing, but then again I don't live in a country that would drop to a temperature that would require these measures. If you can still drink it safely then it can't be anything horrible. If you're already worried then just leave off a water change for a few days, as long as your nitrate levels are not skyhigh you should be okay.

I may not always be right, but I am always the BOSS :-)

Skipping this week's water change more due to time vs my tap water conditions. But this isn't too bad for 7 days since last change
