Hey guys, long time creeper, first time poster!

I have an Oscar named Oscar, I know. He's roughly 10-12 years old and we are his third owners, we've had him about 4 years now. He's mean, he's beat up but I love him. A few days ago I noticed a white bump on his fin and it seems to be getting bigger. He isn't acting funny at all, being fierce and eating like a pig like always. The bump seems to be getting slightly "fuzzier" could this be a bacterial infection or a fungus? Should I treat the tank or just let it go?

75gal
Just him, 4 mystery snails and some Rosy Red Minnows he likes to make friends with for a few days then eat them.
Water perimeters normal/0 - Weekly 25% water changes
Temp 80
Fluval 406
Eats Rosys and trout pellets (twice daily - approx 5 - 10 pellets/feed one at a time because he's a jerk & roughly 12 minnows a week)

Thank you for any input or suggestions.

difficult to visualize base on your description.
better post a picture for us to see and evaluate...
but as you have said, no changes in characters and appetite...
i will not worry much... just make sure the water is in good condition.
however, if you feel paranoid about it... 50% water change instead of 25% only
could help improve the water quality ... do you have data on water parameters?

I've been trying to take a photo. No luck so far, I'll try again after work. He's due for a water change this evening, I'll try doing 50% but water seems to be on point.

Temp: 80
PH: 7.5
Nitrite: 0ppm
Nitrate: 10ppm (we did pull a dead snail out yesterday)
Ammonia: 0ppm

Thanks!

ouch... fungi attack... water issue problem....
do big water change without cleaning the filter,
dose with rocksalt 1tablesppon/10 gal water and
gradually raise temp between 28 to 30 deg C...

any infor ? tank size; filter capacity; ammonia; nitrite; nitrate; pH.

btw, for proper following, i suggest you create your own thread.

dead snail overnight could not make your fish sick immediately...
that water quality is spot on... plus 10 years of keeping him is already an accomplishment!
