The main question I have is do any of you actually follow the directions on the bottle for dosing massive amounts into the aquarium water? I stopped doing it because before I knew it, the bottle was empty. (This is in reference to my 210g and 120g tanks).

But I honestly swear by the stuff now. I have never had an Oscar this healthy until I started using it.

I guess the only other question I have as far as using the product is how do you apply it to the food?

I start by filling a plastic cup with Hikari Bio Gold, Gold sinking pellets, and Algae wafers.

Soak it in VitaChem, then let is sit for a few minutes while I feed the tetras, etc. in the planted tanks.

Then I go to the aquarium, fill the cup the rest of the way with tank water

And dump it in!

That's just how I do it... I feed this way one day, bloodworms the next, and fast the third day.

But like I said in the beginning, do any of you actually add it directly to the water???

No need to put in tank water. For freeze dried foods, I let it soak overnight in the fridge. For pellets i put a feedings worth in a big spoon, pour liquid on and let pellets soak until completely saturated, usually takes 10mins or less.

I only put it FD foods, like mealworms & krill......FD'ing removes all the water from the product, so when adding Boyd's all the vites & such are what go back in.....I have a Tupperware, put in only what I'm going to feed the next day, barely cover the FD whatever w/ Boyd's, & let it marinate overnight in the fridge.......I only pour the "leftover" Boyd's that's in the Tupperware into the aquarium, I think that following the instructions is wasting it & won't do any good..... You only need a few drops of vitachem on the pellet food. You don't want it too saturated otherwise it will leak out the other ingredients. The fish must instantaneously eat the food once it hits the water, otherwise the water will push the vitamins out. The pellets act like a sponge, so feed the pellets one at a time.

I guess I am doing that too long then? Maybe not needed at all, pellets having vitamin already?

I only soak the food for maybe 5 minutes while I tend to the other tanks.
As soon as I dump the food in the tank, the oscar gets what he wants in the first minute, and the rest is left for the Sds, FM, Geo, Corys, Tex etc...

I thought it was a waste to just add it to the water. I've been wondering about it for a while now, thanks for the responses.

Which is why I use FD food & marinate it O/N, direct absorption, almost no waste....

I feed mine once or twice a week sometimes with vitamin soaked food. Only feeding vitamin c right now. Haven't got the vitachem yet.

Go do a water change - the solution to pollution is dilution.
