I will give it a try w/ Darth Maul....he already eats peas, apple, & butternut squash.......next time I get a green pepper, it's on!!

And GP's are very good in red gravy......ever try roasted red peppers? ;)

I have fed Oscars fruit and veg for decades, and its in their natural wild diet. There are however several different acids. Ascorbic(VitC) very good for Oscars. There is also folic acid, good, bad, I dunno. I do know that green peppers have a lower acidic content than some fruits, yet are higher in VitC. The specifics of what is good or bad is beyond my cichlid nutrition knowledge, which is why I did a little research, and posed the question on the forum. I believe that GP's will not harm fish, and would love to back that with some practical application. I have 2 more Oscars to try, maybe I'll get a volunteer.

Hell no gp should be fine I was talking about lemons .... I was a debate a while back and rock had some great points on why no lemons... They would not be eating these in the wild no way to peel them anyway plus I believe the acidity is not good for their digestion just trying to remember ...

Would be some great info to post if some specifics could be provided. I was poking around nutrition sites, but of course everything applies to humans.

Folic acid is really bad for you, it's very difficult for any human or animal to break down the nutrients of any kind of food that contains it, but for whatever reason folic acid is in everything. The doctor I work for formulated a pill with active folate in it that helps you break down folic acid properly and it is safe for animals, he gave it to one of his very sick horses who eventually came back, there are tons of miracle stories after people taking this pill.. I wonder what it would do if I soaked it in some food for my fish? :P the side effect too is it makes you very fertile! Moar baby oscars!
