Largemouth bass LOVE grasshoppers......& I know it's gonna snow/ice/$hit tonight, but bass season will be here before ya know it....& getting live grasshoppers is a tough proposition.

I knew they did crickets, etc but not grasshoppers. Thanks, J. B)

You can buy canned grasshoppers at petsmart or petco from the reptile section.

Copy that...I'm not a Petsmart guy, but I will check that out. Thanks, N.

J, I use artificials for trout, along w/ live minnows....& do use Rapalas for bass, but for BIG bass, nothing beats live or fresh bait. B)

I've been looking at these for a while. How long would you guys say a can would last in the fridge once open? I was looking at the meal worms and I only have 1 "baby" oscar, he is 7mths now, so I think it'd take a week or two to go through a can.

I've had a can of river shrimp in the fridge for 3 weeks. They're almost gone but still good. I tried to finish them at last nights feeding though, don't think they'll last much longer.

I was out & about....got me some fresh rye bread & bagels from Lipkin's.......PetsSmart is 3 blocks from there, so......got me 2 cans of the grasshoppers....one was wingless, the other "regular"......gave one to my Oscar, he crushed it!!....my Jag walloped it, but spit it out after 3 tries....RT Mota crushed it.......I didn't try the Beani, don't think he could eat them, mouth too small, but I may try later & just pull them apart.....I do recommend you pull the legs & wings off 1st. Didn't know they had wingless. My silver dollars get any stray wings or legs.
