ernie created the topic: 7 Day Holiday..What to do?

I will be going on a 7 day holiday in about 2 weeks, what to do about feeding?
I have 2x7 month old tiger o`s which are about 7 inches long in a 150gallon filtered by 2 aquamanta EFX1500 which does about 800GPH.
Water changes are 3x50% per week keeping nitrates down to about 10
I bought a fish feeder but am a little worried about using it while I am away.
Should I feed them up before I leave? not feed them at all? or trust the fish feeder to feed them a little each day?
Nitrate levels are also a concern, will do a big w/c the day I leave and a couple when I get home.
What do OFL members think?

Feed well the day before you go followed by a large water change the morning you leave if possible or the night before. Then leave. When you come home feed and start back into your water change routine, with the first one being a good large one. You can use the feeder but im not sure I would. If the oscars figure out that's where the food is coming from, you might come home to it laying in the bottom of the tank and your water polluted.

Go do a water change - the solution to pollution is dilution.

Concur w/ jmunroe....that's the best course of action. Cichilds can go weeks w/out eating.

THOSE WHO REFUSE KNOWLEDGE ARE DOOMED TO FAIL.

WATER CHANGES ARE THE LIFEBLOOD OF THIS HOBBY. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE SO OR SIMPLY DON'T FEEL LIKE DOING THEM, RE-HOME YOUR FISH, SELL YOUR AQUARIUM & FIND ANOTHER HOBBY, AS YOU WILL FAIL UTTERLY, COMPLETELY, & MISERABLY.
