smellymeatballs created the topic: feeding question

I feel stupid asking this question lol, but I'm new to oscars, and even Danois don't have an appetite close to an Oscar lol. But I have about a 3 and a half inch oscar. How many pellets should I be feeding him a day?

5-6 small pellets twice a day. What kind did you get? What size pellet?

Omega one cichlid pellet. I think they are large, but they are still much smaller than his mouth.

If you find him spewing crumbs out the gills, or hear him crunching,( he grinds them in his throat), then they are too big. Save that batch, for months later. He should be able to swallow them, and his throat is much smaller than his mouth. That is a good pellet though, its the one I use most.

Gotcha. Today is the first day I used them, and he seemed to swallow them no problem. Agreed omega 1 is fantastic. That's the only flake food I feed my rainbows and danios. It's amazing the color difference it can make on a Betta fish
