OscaritusTheOscar created the topic: Breeding food

Hey all,

Im thinking about to set up a little aquarium to feed to my O"
But what is the best thing to breed?

I do not want to give him this like a replacement for his pellets, but just for a snack once a week or once a forthnight.

EDIT: Yes i will set up a heated and filtered aquarium for the fish.

Thanks.

Giving feeders to Oscars is not recommended, regardless if privately raised or not. Nutritional value is low and the risk of disease/parasite transfer still exists. For occasional treats go with earthworms, mealworms, crickets, or different quality freeze drieds. Dont forget some veg matter as a good piece of the overall diet. Raw veg if he will accept, or a veg wafer or kelp pellet.

Thank you,

I don't like mealworms. I'm guessing i will start breeding crickets. I just rode i only need 2 "tank" to keep the adults and the juvenile's in.
That's prety cheap.

Hi,

I tried to feed them those "things" previously, he does not take them.
They don't even fit in his mounth. I'll keep the crickets until his mounth is big enough :)

He absolutely goes mad when i trow a cricket in the tank, and its to only way to hand feed him hehe

Thanks.

Try meadow plankton, wax worms, earth worms, or cockroaches (Note: Not the wild caught ones. That meant the ones found at the house).
