Hello Oscar fish lovers!
As some of you know I have 2 juvenile Oscar (around 3 inches). Mainly I feed them with Hikari cichlid gold, Tetra cichlid and bloodworms 2-3 times per day. However couple of times per week I give them Repashy Soilent Green and they simply love it. Repashy Soilent Green is especially for African cichlids, as well as very suitable for goldfish and catfish. It is type of jelly food which mainly contains Algae and Small Living Organisms as well as high percentage of protein. So is any one has experience with that type of food, I mean is it good or not not so for Oscars?

i've never heard about this particular food but oscars are omnivores so i don't see why this wouldn't be good for them

Don't dwell on what went wrong. Instead focus on what to do next

most formulated fish foods had been produced to cope with the fish food requirement in captivity... i don't see any reason why it should not be good... unfortunately, i am not fond using them for economic reason... but i believe all my fish will not be short change for the nutrients they needed in captivity

@face mcshooty, @DRACO, thank you very much for encouraging answers. I'll keep feeding my Oscars with Repashy Soilent Green and after a while (let's say couple of months) I will write is there any improvements or negativities of their growths as well as any change of the colouration.

I would use New life specturm Algae gel. I find it superior due to the amount of aquatic vegetation that it provides when compared to soilent green.

I have seen that food as an advertisement on the net, but didn't know too much about it. Now I am familiar with that particular brand of fish food and I think that Spectrum is one of the serious competitors of Hikari and Repashy. Definitely I'll use that product.
Thank you for sharing @Rocksor!

Just wondering besides pellets and bloodworms, do you plan to feed anything else for your oscar, especially when they grow older.

Well I will keep feeding my Oscars mainly with pellets and bloodworms and besides that about 2-3 times per week I'll give them Repashy Soilent Green jelly fish food or probably New Spectrum jelly fish food. After a while when the Oscars reach 6-7 inches I will try to provide some insects and earth worms. But as I mentioned, I'll feed them mainly with pellets.

Also try some fruit pieces and raw veg bits. Freeze dried krill also quite popular.

You can also try small fish pieces like mackerel just for variety. I also read squid and other seafood can be given to oscar for treats.
