i've been looking at them for the passed 2 years, knowing i'll get one someday, but first i need a tank to house it properly. 70" x 20 x 24" just isn't gonna cut it. but right now i'm focussing more on getting my chocolates nice and big, and ofcourse to get my angels breeding program on the right track.

hi there

1. over in the far east, aro farms are over breeding aros.
2. as such, prices for the reds and crossback goldies are coming down fast since a year ago.
3. in sin, there are hobbyists who are comm aros at least 2 to 3 into one tank :silly:

hi there

1. for those who comm aros in one single tank.
2. normally, tanks are at least 5x2x2 in size.
3. there are some as big as 6 to 7 feet long :side:
4. reds are one of the biggest aros can easily grow to 26" to 30" when fully mature.
5. my min min who is now at 1.75 years old is more than 18" long.

how long would it be possible to keep an aro (silver) in a 6'x20"x24" tank? i may just look into this once my clown loaches are a bit bigger.

hi there

1. bro, the silver is one of largest aros in the species.
2. you must have at least a 24" width for the tank for it to turn in the tank.
6. length of 6ft is good.
7. in fact, my hobbyists in Singapore who keep silver normally keep them in either 422 or 522 or 622.
8. yes, even matured ones :woohoo:
9. the silvers can grow to more than 3 feet long :side:
10. aros in confined space can easily develop "curved gills" and/or stunned growth.
11. as I live in a high-rise apartment in sin
12. I can only keep my aro in a 422 tank, a single aro in each tank.
13. my 4-year-old goldie "happiness" is 22" while 1.75 year-old min min is slightly more than 18" now.
14. I have no intention to move either aro to a bigger tank :pinch:
