turtle lover created the topic: African arowana facts

I saw an African arowana in a pet store. Out of curiosity, what are the facts about this fish? Can it eat fish?

it is a filter feeder, and difficult to raise until about 6" -8". It typically dies of starvation in the home aquaria due to in appropriate food and inability of the keeper to keep it constantly fed. In the wild it feeds on microorganisms and plant vegetation constantly.

36", so you need a pond or at least a 12 foot x 4 foot foot print tank. After the 8 " mark it is easier to feed in terms of types of food, however it needs to be fed more often and smaller amounts than most fish.

hi there

1. aro needs at least a 422 tank.
2. in the far east, Africa aro is not popular but some do keep it in an aro comm tank.
3. yes, the aro feeds on small fish too.
