Nyx created the topic: One-Eyed Calico Ryukin

I just adopted a small calico Ryukin today from work. The poor thing only has one eye and we do not know how he lost it. I call him patches. He has been in the qt tank at work for a little over a week and he has been eating and acting completely normal. So today I adopted him and brought him home. Is there any special long term care or treatment he should have?

Clean water and stay away from any sharp decorations.
They can adapt quite well to only having one eye and still live a happy long life.
But you do want to take precautions to keep the remaining eye in good shape.

Thanks so much for the advice! He is going to live out his days in my 55 gallon tank so hopefully he will be quite happy.
