As of now I have four bottom feeding fish in my 210g and I feel like they just dont get along well. My stock consists of a Rhino pleco, hoplo cat, delhezi bichir and weeksii bichir. The most territorial and problematic fish is the rhino pleco. It has always hated the hoplo cat and attacked it and it will attack the weeksii. It almost seems my decision is get rid of the rhino and keep the other three or get rid of the other three and keep the rhino.
I hate these decisions! I know someone needs to go to help with the aggression, but I happen to like the aggressor!

Hey, you don't want that Rhino, I'll take him.

THOSE WHO REFUSE KNOWLEDGE ARE DOOMED TO FAIL.
WATER CHANGES ARE THE LIFEBLOOD OF THIS HOBBY. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE SO OR SIMPLY DON'T FEEL LIKE DOING THEM, RE-HOME YOUR FISH, SELL YOUR AQUARIUM & FIND ANOTHER HOBBY, AS YOU WILL FAIL UTTERLY, COMPLETELY, & MISERABLY.

I think I'd keep the rhino.
Go do a water change - the solution to pollution is dilution.

I feel like I owe it to him since he was one of the originals but so was the hoplo cat. The bichirs came along later.jmunroe wrote: I think I'd keep the rhino.
The Hoplo is awesome because he is out and even swims with the big cichlids. He is not super colorful being brown but has a cool herringbone scale pattern and is super outgoing. I almost want to keep him with the Oscar in the bowfront but feel that it would be mean to move him from the 210g into a 72g bow.
The dehezi has nice patterning and is super active. People always do a double take when they see it and I always have to explain everything about them. He seems to not have any issue with the pleco, but stays out of its area. The weeksii on the other hand is either stubborn or stupid and always crosses into the pleco's area. The weeksii is also interesting but hides more. I really want to see it reach its full potential. A 16"-18" bichir would look pretty cool!
I just feel the bottom guys do not get along and they all want to be under the same piece of mopani in the front center of the tank. There are other spots for them but it might be that where I feed is right in front of this wood and they like that they can hide under it and pop out to eat.
A nice thought for the rhino is that if I rehome him to the person who is interested, he would likely end up in an even bigger tank than my 210g!

Just a thought, but perhaps it may be worth removing that piece of mopani from the tank? If they're no longer all competing for the same area it might decrease aggression a bit.
Based on what you said it sounds like the rhino, hoplo and delhezi are your favourites. Perhaps rehome the weeksii instead if the main aggression is between the rhino and it.

Lammergeier, that was one of the biggest 'Ah ha' moments! Duh, I can always take the piece of wood out and see what happens. LOL! I cant believe I did not think of that.
Thank you!
