The festae is at the top of my someday list. Next time i have a purely decorative tank. My ichthyology professor had a pair and the colors were stunning, but you need a big tank and they generally do not play nice with others.

I've desided to keep him. i was looking at him last night and i just cant bring myself to take him back hes such a beautiful male B) . so im going to leave my tank split for awhile, thats gives him 45 gallons to grow out in and my dovii x mota has 75 gallon to herself. once they out grow sharing this tank i'll try to find a 90 or a 75 gallon for my dovii x mota (shes female so should stay around 12-13 inches long) and leave him in the 120 by himself so he can grow into a 16+ inch monster ;) .

that was my original intent but because as fishguy66 pointed out to me festae arnt central americans so i dont belive its even possible. i know mostly all centrals can interbreed with eachother but SAs cant interbreed with each other except for a few exceptions such as blue and brown acruas can breed with gold and silver saums.

It is possible with Festae to breed with other CA cichlids. One of the rare ones out of SA that can interbreed with CA.

Google Manaconda Cichlid (Festa x Managuense).
