So I might have scratched the idea of the Red Devil. Was thinking maybe a salvini and one other cichilid same size.

Sal a pretty mean fish, dont know if there is room for another. This is for your new 55? Big Carpintis fan, especially since I cant get one, so I like to urge others to get one! Good solo fish for a 55.

I may not be the Boss, but I'm ALWAYS right!

It's my fiances tank technically. She likes the Salvinis. I think two salvinis would work in a 55. She likes the carpinits but not that much yet lol.

I think the fiance might have changed her mind on the carpinitis. She said she really likes them. She is looking at videos of them now...

carpinitis would be awesome. but thats would be the only fish in the tank. you could also stick to your original plan... and go with a lone rd. carpinitis are def a more attractive looking fish... but rd are really personable and will rearrange the entire tank. def a fun fish to watch.....now i want a rd again lol.

i have a salvini with my raphs and sd.....so far so good..... no aggression except for sometimes he chases the sd he doesnt even pay attention to the raphs. they hang out with the salvini all day.... they are far too quick though. im a big fan of the salvini....im just waiting for her (i think) colors to pop.

back to your original plan....salvini and bristlenose might actually work. 2x salvini could also work. maybe a convict?? i cant really think of anything else that wouldnt get too big and can hold its own. the salvini might be too aggressive for the convict. its hard to say.... mine hasnt shown much aggression in the past 8 months....but he doesnt have any cichlid tankmates.

Yeah, convict was my other choice for a tank mate for it. I think we might do the carpinitis.

I always read about sals turning super psycho. I know someone here lost a female recently. I think it was rob. And his are still pretty small.

I love my red devil. He has so much personality. Sometimes I feel like he is "throwing a fit". Ill cover up one of his holes and he go the other side of the tank and dig another hole as fast as possible. He may not be covered in sparkly dots like a carpintis but he is fun to watch.
