Sounds good. If I can get a spawn by the spring they would be ready before summer is over.

So my neighbour had another spawn from the same older pair and gave me the entire spawn after he got them separated before they got eaten. They are a couple years old and good breeders so they are making around 100 eggs or so each spawn. I put them in with the 4 left from the first bunch and they are trying to eat a few, but realizing the new fry are a little to big for them to get in. If enough of these ones make it I'll have some for you guys sooner rather than later.

Yeah it's nice of him. I look after feeding his fish and water changes when he's away so he said take what I want for fry. He has a dozen tanks with different things breeding like the red points, heros Severum( the mouth brooder), a pair of the super red Severum like Suprd just got, 4-5 different geo types, now he's getting a breeding pair of pinstripe damba cichlid(extinct in the wild). He has some different dwarf cichlids as well.

the pinstripe looks like a buttikoferi - but i bet that's a cool looking fish ...

isn't it hard to get a breeding pair of severums? as most of them are impotent?

Not sure about some Severums but he has 7 of the Heros and has gotten 2 pair from them that produce. The super reds laid eggs, covering a rock and they got eaten as they are in a community tank and haven't been separated yet. Not sure if they will produce fry or not.

Here's an update vid of the fry. Moved the 4 I had left from the first batch to the 125 to see if they could survive hiding in the rocks because they ate quite a few of the second batch. They didn't survive of course but the second batch are growing nicely with the biggest ones being a little over 1/2 inch now. I think around 25 or so have survived.
