So as of right now I have a 55 gallon with a single Jack Dempsey and 4 pictus cats. I have 2 marine land penguin 350s for filtration and I do 1 30-50 percent water change a week.
I was wondering if my tank is fully stocked I thought it was but I have lots of people telling me it looks empty so I was wanting to know your opinions!
If I was to add something I want something that won't cause trouble because right now the Jacks still being peaceful towards everything and I really don't want to ruin it by adding another cichlid. If I can add anything just let me know and what would you add?

Sounds like lots in a 55 to me. They will grow and fill it soon enough. I'm guessing they aren't very big yet.

Go do a water change - the solution to pollution is dilution.

yeah, your fully stocked.

the tank might look bare now, but when that jack starts to reach that 12'' mark.... it wont look empty. females will tend to be a bit smaller.

good water quality and diet, and it'll grow to its full potential.

i think when it comes to aggression, and bio load your best keeping the way things are now. jacks can be super aggressive and when you stick them in a 4 foot tank... chances of keeping peace with multiple cichlids are slim... and keeping good water quality is even more slim.

id also recommend doing a bigger water change, more like 75% the benefits are huge and its not much more work. as the fish get bigger, you may also need to double up on the filters.

Tank is full, and if Jack is anywhere more than 5ins, it should really have the tank to himself. It may decide to make it that way anyways, JD can be a tough customer, especially if it starts to feel crowded.

I was sure it was and I already do have 2 of the penguin filters. I think it's a she and is already 5 inches and is still not bothering the adult pictus cats. I think it's because one time one if them stuck the JD with a barb and it has never messed with them since.
