I really should have my head examined, but I just picked this fish up today. It was sold as a "jumbo" red devil, but I think it is a female midas. It could be a hybrid, but I really don't know. Opinions on what this fish is would be greatly appreciated.

wow he/she is bad ass. im jealous! i would call it a midevil and say its male haha. the only way i was able to tell that my midevil is male is i triggered breeding mode and he had his "wiener" sticking out haha.

i dont know what the sand did there at the end but he did not like it haha.

Thanks Ehh, this was a drop off and has been at the store for a couple of weeks. One of the guys working there told me the same guy brought in a 14" oscar, but it did not make it. It is in a75 for now, but I think it may need a 6' tank. This fish is huge, and just does not look right in a 4'.

Thats a nasty customer Rob. Male I believe, and far more Midas than RD. As per usual, Jack will confirm, but I think I'm correct on this one. Nice score anyways. That sand may have to go though, could be a filter clog prob if he stirs up too much.

Male Midas. Cranial profile & mouth too blunt to have RD in it.

THOSE WHO REFUSE KNOWLEDGE ARE DOOMED TO FAIL.

WATER CHANGES ARE THE LIFEBLOOD OF THIS HOBBY. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE SO OR SIMPLY DON'T FEEL LIKE DOING THEM, RE-HOME YOUR FISH, SELL YOUR AQUARIUM & FIND ANOTHER HOBBY, AS YOU WILL FAIL UTTERLY, COMPLETELY, & MISERABLY.

Thanks everyone for the info, I did not think it was a RD after looking at pics, but most of the male midas pics I have seen had a pronounced kok, so I really wasn't sure what this fish was. He is definitely a beast and I can already tell that he is going to be a bit troublesome at water change time. Will let you know the first time he actually bites my hand. ;)
