Yeah, 75G bare minimum, but honestly, as they get bigger, a 125GL. I put Darth Sidious in my 125 when I got it & he grew exponentially. Really starting to make that look small.

THOSE WHO REFUSE KNOWLEDGE ARE DOOMED TO FAIL.

WATER CHANGES ARE THE LIFEBLOOD OF THIS HOBBY. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE SO OR SIMPLY DON'T FEEL LIKE DOING THEM, RE-HOME YOUR FISH, SELL YOUR AQUARIUM & FIND ANOTHER HOBBY, AS YOU WILL FAIL UTTERLY, COMPLETELY, & MISERABLY.

So if I understand correctly, a female jag should not get any larger then a full grown Oscar correct?

Yes a female jag has the potential to reach the size of a 14" Oscar. It can happen if you keep it for it's full life 10+ years.

Oscars will easily hit 12" within the first 3 years. (male or female)

If you want a smaller parachromis species, then P. motaguense, P. friedrichstahli, and P. loisellei are your best bet. It is rare that the males hit 14", where as females don't get larger than 10" on average for any of those 3.
