Looks awesome! I'm sure Thor will love it! But what's up with the big fish in there? Thor isn't quite that big yet and I don't want to risk a scuffle :P

Lol but joking aside, take looks awesome and I'm sure your Thor will do awesome in it.

Thor looks awesome. I'm getting kind of obsessed with jags - what are they like as far as 'wet pets' go?

Thx folks.. Lam, Jags are awesome. They are not goofy kid-like as an Oscar, but very intelligent and will interact with you plenty. They are Parachromis, like Dovii, Mota etc and do exhibit the attitude of a fish that is King of its tank. If you can properly house one, I highly recommend this species.

Thanks! It's not a fish I'll be looking into seriously for a little while yet. I'm assuming that a juvie would be ok in a 4 x 2 x 2, but would eventually need a 6 x 2 to itself? How quickly do they grow?

It's something I'd seriously think about if I end up being able to keep Henry and co in the one tank because I'll have a spare 6 x 2, otherwise it'll be a 'bucket list' fish for me for a while.

They grow pretty quick, not outrageous like Oscar, but quick enough. 4ft tank of good volume would suffice for a year or more, a 6ft 125, which was Thor's home for a year would hold long term. I got him the 180 because I have the room and the means to do so. I figured Thor to be about a year old when I got him, May 2013. He was about 7ins, but not well cared for. Was in a filthy barely filtered 75 with a bigger male Jag. I came "this close" to taking both fish, but didnt have the space for 2 at the time. Felt real bad for the fella I left behind. Hope he went to a better home. My little Dovii will get Thor's now empty 125. Good for a while, but then what!? Yes, I do believe I have a screw loose!!

Good on you for rescuing him! Thanks for the info too.

Speaking of screws loose, I found a 2nd hand 120 gal for the tail-less oscar I'll be getting soon, got a 5 x 18 x 18 for another lab RD, and another 55 gal that I want to sell to buy another 90 gal... and the spare 6 x 2 (that's been holding water in the garage for almost a week! think the resealing worked).

What ARE you going to do with the Dovii? :P Long term, I mean.
