I saw this on a site that tailors to 'monster' type fish but will just post the video.

These are very nice looking cons and he said he has got one to about 75% of the super red color he is shooting for

I think at some time every cichlid keeper has had the common convict at one point or another. I can just imagine a nice little super red male with a hump would look like a little mini midas. Would open up some possibilities to own a colorful, small cichlid with some personality. Not that I would ever get one, but I thought the guy was doing an interesting breeding project for sure.

Don't some of them have a hint of naturally occurring red? Or perhaps that is the HRPs I am thinking of. Been a loooong time since I owned one.

HRP's have a hint of red in them ... but haven't seen it on a convict .... i can see from a female convict...their belly turns redish pink...but...not that fire red
