I think I might have to remove him every time I want to clean the tank. Rather than getting easier this is turning into a real ordeal. I thought it was cool at first, but...

He's got attitude for sure. You need a magnetic cleaner. That'll solve the problem.

Go do a water change - the solution to pollution is dilution.

Anybody wants to debate how strong CA cichlid jaws are.....they need to see this video. Damn.

I get the oxymoron thing w/ Gentle Ben.....but as this one is strong in The Dark Side, you should consider changing his name......hmmm....Darth Revan.

What temp do you keep him at?

Also, just try draining the tank down to dorsal fin level.......then scrub away!! B)

THOSE WHO REFUSE KNOWLEDGE ARE DOOMED TO FAIL.

WATER CHANGES ARE THE LIFEBLOOD OF THIS HOBBY. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE SO OR SIMPLY DON'T FEEL LIKE DOING THEM, RE-HOME YOUR FISH, SELL YOUR AQUARIUM & FIND ANOTHER HOBBY, AS YOU WILL FAIL UTTERLY, COMPLETELY, & MISERABLY.

Wow! :) Yep. If you don't have a background poster (didn't look like you did) then those magnetic floating algae scrubbers should be perfect. You will have to stick your hand in to position it on the inside from corner to corner, but I don't think that'll be a problem. I use one on my tank and it's a lot easier than with the brush.

Beautiful fish!

He'll eat a mag float. Jack has you covered drain it and then do the glass.

Edit: Gentle Ben is the perfect name for that demon.

Get the mag float brand for 125 gallon and up. The big one is around 6 inches long and 4 or 5 inches wide. He's got a lot of growing to do before he can eat that. And he'll have to break the glass to get it off. Try to find a used one, they are around $125 new for the biggest one. I have the second to largest one I believe and a large Dovii might get it off the glass. They are worth every cent, I love mine.

He'll eat the mag-float??? I had no idea he was that aggresive! And I wasn't even talking about the really large one either ... I thought the 2"x1" would do. Amazing.

Or just go to home depot/lowes and have a thick piece acrylic cut and make a divider then when you want to scrub the tank you can block him to one side and hold the piece of acrylic with one hand and scrub with the other then switch sides
