My male JD only eats frozen or live foods. Can not get him to eat pellets. Tried a lot of different brands and types. I've been starving him for a couple of weeks and still nothing. What should I do. thanks

hi and welcome - have you try soaking it? with krill water? vitachem? sounds like you've spoiled the little guy.

Have you tried Tetra JumboMin? I had a picky JD, and that was my go to pellet. There's also soft pellets made by New Era that you can press together.

Without competition for food, training to eat a certain type is more difficult.

Over the years Ive learned to just go hardcore with the fish. I will feed the pellet I want them to eat and they have always gave in and eventually come around. I have not lost any fish yet due to starvation. ;)

To this day I have a WC weeksii bichir that I have never seen eat a pellet. When I first got it I fed it earthworms and tilapia filets but just decided I had had enough of that so I started putting in pellets at night instead. They are all gone in the morning, the fish has grown considerably and been alive and kicking for over a year now.
