Got home today, and the power was out for my 125, 100, 50 gal. Theses tanks are all on a single circuit. I had intentionally turned it off because I have some fish in these tanks, that are not aggressive eaters, and the filters get more food than they do when they are running. I forgot to turn it back on last night, so all tanks had no heat, or filtration. The big looser is my Dovii, the water temp was about 62F when I got home, but he looks horrible. I have done 3 partial water changes, and increased the temp with every one. I tested the water and nitrate was 10 to 20, ammonia 0, and nitrite 0, but that was after adding some prime. I have probably turned the water over about 90%, and that may have been wrong, but he really looked bad, and I did not feel I had time to seek advice. I guess it is a wait and see situation now, and I will let you know.

Here is my last video of Morgoth from a few days ago.

Damn Rob, I hope this goes well. The only thing I can offer is not to raise the temp up by too much at a time. Probably took a fair while to drop that low, not like he jumped right into 62. Strong adult fish, I'm bettin he makes it.

its the filters really that could be affected, the bacteria could be dying and toxifying the water.. im not sure on the time scale but im sure a few hours is all it takes .. the water changes have helped dramaticly i would guarantee.. you will probably be fine depending on how long the fish has been in the water before the water changes,
hope someone else can come and give a little more advise..

Biological filters take a good 24/36 hours to degrade......hope all goes well w/ Morgoth.

THOSE WHO REFUSE KNOWLEDGE ARE DOOMED TO FAIL.

WATER CHANGES ARE THE LIFEBLOOD OF THIS HOBBY. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE SO OR SIMPLY DON'T FEEL LIKE DOING THEM, RE-HOME YOUR FISH, SELL YOUR AQUARIUM & FIND ANOTHER HOBBY, AS YOU WILL FAIL UTTERLY, COMPLETELY, & MISERABLY.

I think I am in the clear, have some video from my phone, that I am trying to upload. In the last couple of hours he has gone from swimming upside down to stalking me. He is one tough sob, but I think I really dodged a bullet here. Honestly I did not even record what I thought were his final moments, it was bad, and would have upset anyone here who saw it.

That is one good looking fish robham. I am glad that he seems to be pulling through. Is he out in your garage, if the temp drops to 62 w/o heater? Make sure to post more videos soon!

The tanks are in the garage, and even with the tank heaters, and space heaters running it can get pretty cold, but it is usually far less dramatic, than what Morgoth got this time.

Wow .. that's a huge improvement in just a few hours. I'm so glad it looks like he'll be fine. In the video taken hours before I would have thought he might not make it. That's one strong fish.
