It's more just lack of swim space I was thinking about, but he won't outgrow the pipe. His choices were either a pipe too small for him to fit in, or a bit of those massive 20cm diameter ones.

Hmmm... good point. Maybe put driftwood in later, if he stops using the pipe?

He's still very wary of people but he's getting better eating pellets. Actually eating them in front of us which is good. Before that I wasn't 100% sure if he was eating them or they were just getting sucked up by the filter
In other good news, the erosion/raw looking tissue around his nostrils has visibly decreased. The holes under his eyes aren't looking crash hot though.
I think I'll start the epsom salts today.
Also got some free rocks to spend some time failing at making rock caves again!

If the piece of pipe is becoming an eyesore cover it with a fish safe silicone (over here it's GE Silicone 1) and roll it PFS and stick some small rocks and stone to it to make a ready made hide. One of our members ehh (I think) made a thread about the one he made for his big Midas. Looks great IMO.

Rogue mentioned a similar idea too. I'll look into it more. It isn't really an eye-sore though, but I'm also going to attempt to make a natural rock-cave like Suprd did for Thor. I just really suck at it lol.

lol Lamm.. maybe when I say "cave", that's not quite accurate. I get flat-ish rocks, make two columns and top it with a flat rock roof. Carport for fish you might call it.

That may have been what I was trying and failing to do lol. Problem was the only rocks I had on hand were quite rounded so just didn't balance properly. I then got bored. The end result of the boredom was a good lesson; making towers out of driftwood and rocks because you're mentally 5 and playing with the adult version of lego is a bad idea.
But yeah, got some good flat rocks to try again! Just need to give them a good scrub and soak then try my luck at not going stupid.

You do know I've got some flat rocks out here, right? The ones that came with the loaches, that I haven't used?
You're welcome to them if you want them.

We're always moving them. They've been living under a tank for ages, lol.
I thought you remembered them? I found the pipes easier to clean than moving rocks.
