Can cichlids be taught to hand feed like the Oscars can? i have enough room, for a 50 gallon tank but not a 70 sooo no oscar for me so i have been looking at the cichlids and was also wondering if i cna put other fish with them and how many?

I have found that Oscars tend to be little bit more confident than a lot of other cichlids. I have a Jade eyed Cichlid that won't take food from the hand and I have had him for quite a while now. The Oscars on the other hand, will take the end of your finger off if you're not careful. I think they're born with confidence

If they realize your not going to kill and eat them. My demonsi used to eat from my hand on occasions, but nothing else like my fulleborni or bumblebee would ever dare. My Jak Dempseys will though. Or at least my old big guy "Jade'' will. She'll take your whole hand if your not careful My lil' ones would rather scurry away, and my Oscar is to little to do it.
