The longer I have been doing this, the more interest I actually have in what fish I've got, and where they come from. When I started, where they came from didn't really come into it. I think some fish adapt really well and pH isn't absolutely critical, unless you want to breed of course. Now been doing it for a few years, I like having tanks that only have fish from a certain area. My 125 gallon tank has not three types of fish in three areas. Oscars from South America, jade eyed cichlid from Central America, and clown loaches from Asia. I'm actually thinking along the lines of keeping the 300 gallon Amazon tank just for South America, doing something with a 125 gallon tank that only has fish from where the clown Loach comes from, I think this could make an extremely interesting set up but it would take a little bit more research. Obviously that means I would have to do away with the Oscars in that tank which would be quite difficult as they are my main love. Maybe I should just get another tank

bloody hell, why is this hobby so addictive?
