Pangasius Catfish/Iridescent Shark!! 6 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 10
It Seems to me that the above mentioned catfish is a common fish to buy from the LFS around the world it keeps popping up every now and then people asking about this breed.

As artemis has mentioned a few times these fish get very big and i dont mean 18inch big i mean huge.

as ive owned one of these before i know exactly what this is all about and i wanted to warn people please to not see the cute little catfish in he shop and buy it.As a rule of thumb always do yr homework before buying any fish and dont buy on impulse.

below is a link of sum photos ive collected to show u guys how big these boys can get.

trouble is the lfs as i said in the last post, if its got a profile on the tank its in saying it grows to eight inches inexperienced fish keepers will buy.

funny really because everything else sold in shops has to have correct info due to trading standards, wonder if you would have a case if your iridescent shark ends being near on three foot instead of eight inches, in that case i think its the shops responsibility to re-home it!

180g = 1 tiger O, 1 red O, 1 male green severum, 1 Geophagus brasiliensis

100g = 1 jack dempsey, 1 chocolate cichlid, 1 feather fin catfish

100g= trio of breeding frontosa

30g= breeding pair of keyholes

yeah mate u cannot believe what the LFS tells you or what you see on the profile card.

Here NZ on the Oscars card in the LFS they reckon minimum Tank size for a O is 120liters(26.39Gallons uk) and we all know that is a load of crap.

so pesonally its safer to just sum homework b4 ending up with a fish that creates to much problems 4 u.

Inexperience and believing shop workers is how i ended up with mine. I always research fish myself now before buying as i find you just cant trust them in the shops to tell you/know the truth. The other thing i have heard before is 'yeah it should be alright with oscars'. this was for a green terror and a festae both really aggressive fish that had to be returned after they started battering my oscar
