I had 4 of them they were around 4 inch when i bought them had em 3 month then tok em back the biggest had got to 8 inch.I didnt no how big they got untill vbaby told me a few week ago.Thanks mate

mind you i bet there are some experienced fish keepers who get caught out, i mean if i want to get a new fish i research by books and internet. i think the internet is the place to research as you get profiles, pictures and best of all forums!
but not everyone has the internet and some books are sooooooooooo out of date, i just read one on south american cichlids, it states in there that undergravel filters are the thing and that you can get away with keeping oscars in a 30g aquarium. could be other books that state that these huge catfish are fine in average aquariums.

i had 2 pangasius catfish or tiger sharks before i bought my oscar 2 months ago! they were nearly 2' long! i didn't know they can grow up to 4'! so i returned them and bought the oscar, they were cool fish to have, fascinatng and they eat a lot!

i would give my left one to be able to house a few pangasius catfish in a huge tank in my garden
