My husband says he is a severen. (I doubt if I spelt that right; sorry)! Are Oscars a type of fish who needs proteinn in their diets for healthy growth? I didn't know that Oscars and Cichlids are in the same family? I was just worried about my Oscar. He is still following my other one around..I am just dying to know why. It is so cute though, I wish you guys could see!

severums are south american cichlids and are good tankmates for oscars their diets are identical as well as water parameters. once the pecking order in your tank is established they should do great together.
here is a link with what would consist of a balanced oscar diet

I have a baby Oscar that attaches himself to other Oscars. He freaked out when my bigger Oscar died until I got a new one. I think they just want to feel safe so they pick the big bad brother to hang with. I thought the bigger fish would get annoyed but he goes in search of Cody (short for codependent) if he's gone missing.
