my first reaction was , ahhhh!! leech on my arm.... but why is it in there and will it affect my fish? i would REALLY like to get rid of them(if there is more) i do not want to stick my arm back in that tank!!

Looks like a leach, YUK!!!!!!!

If i was you i would remove all decor including the substrate and let is all dry out. I would also clean the filter/s to make sure none are in there. Leave your tank like this for a month or so to make sure no others are left

Could it be a baby eel?
