new fish tank.. dun dun dunnnn..... 3 Months ago Karma: 0
Hey all,

I'm new here but not new to "fish keeping." I used to raise African cichlids but had to sell them a while back. However my gf and I just bought our oscar tank. And of course they rule.

Here is some information everyone on here seems to want to know.

70 (us) gallon tank
gravel bottom
lots of purdy plants and ornements (very colorful since i had to stare at an empty tank for two weeks while I cycled the thing.) lol
2 back hanging duo charcoal pak filter units.
all glass tank with wood stand "that goes with my bookstand and coffee table (someone might want to know)"

OH! And there is some fish in there...
1 Albino Oscar (I picked him out, his name is Zues)
1 black tiger Oscar (gf picked him, his name is Odden, and he is the official BA of the tank)
1 albino placo (I picked him out and his name is Aries)
1 spotted placo (gf picked him, his name is Thor)

Oh no... i see the theme too... (don't judge me )
We got them all about a month a go when they were just wee babies. Its really funny naming an inch and a half placo Thor!

On and we have 3 tinfoil barbs. They are the 3 studges since you can't tell them apart. They love to eff with the Os till they take chase. Then the barbs become my little silver blurs. They are fun to watch and they clean up after our messy oscars...

I will get some pics for everyone as soon as i can!

Welcome to the site

A word about stocking, you will be ok with 2 oscars and a pleco but it will be a lot of work. You will never manage with 3 tinfoils, 2 plecs and 2 oscars in that tank, its just too many fish. Tinfoils get to 13 inches, oscars similar and plecs at least 12in but can get bigger. Imagine them in your 70. Think about rehomeing the tinfoils and 1 plec

You will be ok when they are all small, the trouble will be when they big

I'm planning on getting a 110 gal tank when its time to upgrade. right now they are just tiny though. I had some clown loaches in the tank. But they all managed to get ICK and died ... then the oscars were distraut and did nothing but chase eachother. But the barbs seem to give a little life to the tank now and the Os have clamed down A LOT. But when its time to upgrade I will certainly have to splip up the placos. I'm not sure which fish are gonna get the bigger tank though.
