Pregnant Plattys 1 Year, 3 Months ago
While I'm picking you guys' brains - I have 2 platty females who are very pregnant, but nothing happens. It's been very long now (about 2 months) and they look like bursting. They are in a community tank and get fed once a day, like the rest, but ya, I don't know what to think of it - anyone of you guys know?

I have got exactly the same thing going on with my guppies. Two of the females seem to have been pregnant for months. Plattys are live bearers like guppies. I believe that they can hold on to their young until the conditions are right for birth. I would check your water conditions. Maybe do a water change and see what happens.

that's the best part - I make regular water changes - I even took them out, put them in those plastic little cages in other cycled tanks, three times now - 2 plattys were born - and nothing happened further. Maybe a must do a 60 or 70% water change and see what happens. I'm really scared that they might burst..

Same thing happened with my four inch emperor guppy. Eventually she died, and i figured i wanted to see what had happened so i cut her open- and i saw at least 100 tiny, dead fry. 'Wish she was alive, and her fry...At least that doesn't happen to my cichlids!
