I have noticed that lots of people ask questions in both the chat room and in the comments section on the gallery. Please feel free to carry on doing this but I must warn you that you may not get an answer very quickly. If you want to ask questions and receive an answer promptly, I would advise you to register with a username and password and join the website properly. This will then enable you to use the forum properly and get the answers you want (hopefully)

I have a question. I work @ Walmart. A customer came to me & asked me how to get rid of worms that have appeared in her tank. She claims that since her oscar is a female living with no male that she has laid eggs with worms so that they will have something to eat when they hatch. Is this true?? And if so how does she get rid of them without harming her oscar????

that is definitely a new one I haven't heard before, an Oscar laying worms with the eggs so they have something to eat when they hatch. no, this is totally untrue. I strongly suspect that what she is talking about is actually planeria. these could well be flat headed worms that are totally harmless to fish. However, they can look unsightly and thrive in your Aquarium if you overfeed. I would advise her to reduce the feeding for the next couple of weeks. I actually don't know of any medication that is proven to remove planeria successfully without harming other fish. If you search the forums, you will see that a lot of people have had this problem. She may have to remove the worms manually to keep them under control as well as depriving them of food. Just don't do fish and enough to live on and then there won't be much left over for the planeria so they should reduce in numbers, hopefully anyway.

Finally, these sorts of questions belong in the fish section, thank you
