Re:New Eggs 9 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 2
So far so good with the new wigglers. Some of them started to swim to the top yesterday, and so far this morning, a few others are also swimming. I started to add a little baby brine for them yesterday, and some of them started to eat it right away giving them little pink bellies. There are two or three I may need to weed out as I don't think they developed correctly. I will give them another day or so to see, but one in perticular seems to always have it's body in a curve, and can only swim in a circle in one direction. I don't know if he has a spine issue or something, but he did manage to get to food without much problem. I will keep a close eye on him and see what happens.

Nemo is doing great. He loves his bloodworms and brineshrimp. He is still in an isolation container in the growout tank, but I think today I will let him swim the whole tank. He is large enough and a good enough swimmer now to find the food. I'm still not sure yet if he is goign to be an Albino Tiger or a tiger. His fins are getting pretty balck, but I don't know if this is just a juvi. coloring and will change.

New video put on my webpage of some of the fry swimming

You can see them here

Quick update, the fry and Nemo are doing well, and I just checked the parents tank, and they have another batch of eggs. They seem to be on a good cycle, the last batch of fry are 7 days old, and already a new set of eggs. I'm going to let the parents handle this batch of eggs all on their own since I'm busy with the new fry. Maybe they will be able to raise the eggs this time.

Another update for the followers of this thread. The fry are doing well. I lost 2, but the rest seem to be doing very good. There is one that is about 1/4 the size of the rest, but when I feed the group, he gets a big pink belly, so I know he's eating.

Nemo is doing very good. I will try and get a few more pics in the morning, it's almost 2 in the morning here right now.

This last set of eggs started to hatch about 2 hours ago, which is why I'm up so late. I have been keeping a close eye on the parents to see how they react. So far they haven't been eating the wigglers. I have been trying to over feed them a bit the past ffew days while they have been watching the eggs. I figure if they are full, maybe they wont want to eat their eggs, and so far it seems to be working. Their seem to be hundreds of wigglers on their stone, and I haven't seen them eat any. It still seems to be the male doing most of the work.

Well, a new discovery of the parents skills. I have been watching them this morning to see if they were going to eat their new wigglers, and they are acting like good parents. When a wiggler wiggles it's self off the stone, both parents suck them up and spit them back on the stone. So far this time they seem to know what they are doing.

Sorry for the poor pictures, the fish were just not too good witht he camera today. I will try again later.

Nemo 41 days old

They fry hatched Sept 29th, 2007 11 Days old
