Re:New Eggs 11 Months ago
Well, here is a long awaited update, today I got the tankmates for Nemo. I got 5 red Oscars. I know in an above post someone said Nemo looked like he was going to be a red Oscar, but he doesn't look anything like the babies I just bought. I'm really not sure what he is going to be.

The babies are all pretty thin, and under fed looking, but I'm sure that will change. I have already seen them eat, so thats good. It seems like they are all getting along.

I have seen some lip locking between nemo and the new guys, and some tail slapping and twitching. Right now, I would assume this is just them testing their dominace in the tank.

In this case, it's not the petshop that wasn't feeding them, The shop owner had ordered them in for me, and they just got there today. The shop had them for about an hour before I got there to pick them up. The problem starts with the wholesalers and breeders. The less they feed them, the more profit in their pocket. The LFS I go to is very good with their fish. I heve the little shop I go to, and then 3 large chain stores very close to me, and the LFS I go to, the fish are always much better looking than the rest of the stores.

I'm sure the new ones will look better pretty fast. I just gave them a bunch of bloodworms, and they are loving them.

I just wish I could figure out what type of oscar Nemo is. He doesn't look like any of the other oscars I've see.

I'm glad so many people are enjoying my thread, and maybe it can be a help to someone else who wants to breed their Oscars.

I have learned a lot from the people here, so if I can give back a little thats even better.

I learn a bit more everyday with my breeding attempts. And there is still I want to learn. I wish their were more genitecs studies on Oscars. Like with my Nemo, I still have no idea what type of oscar he is. Someone above said a red, but now that I have my new baby reds, he looks nothing like them. I was doing some searching last night, and I'm thinking maybe he is a green oscar. But I still don't really know if it is possible since his parents are an albino tiger and a tiger. I would have thought he would have had to be one of them.

1605 hits this thread has had.

How long is Nemo now would you say? He seems to have lost that little baby look, if you know what I mean
