I am please to say, thay my one fry is still alive and now swimming around the tank. I've been trying to get a good pic, but he moves too fast to get a good closeup. I will keep trying. The parents are also at it again, going through their "dance" and cleaning up the rock and digging new pits in the gravel. Maybe this time they will do a better job.

I'm just surprised this one fry is still alive. He dissapeared for about two days, and I just figured he died, but today I was looking throught he tank, and there he was swimming around

If the Oscars are happy with the environment, they will lay eggs on a regular basis. If the little baby Oscar is still alive, he better be looking over his shoulder, the two Oscars will no longer be looking at him has their baby, just food, or a threat.

The baby has been moved to a growout tank so he can't get eaten by the parents.

He seems to be eating well with the Hikari - First Bites Fry food, and Freshly hatched brine shrimp.

How often should I be feeding him? It's a little tough with just the one fry, I need to put enough in the tank for him to be able to eat, but with only the one, there is a lot of waste so I have to work a little harder to keep it clean.

Another question for you guys, Can the fry eat too much? The one I have is gettin a little larger, and easier to see now, and after a feeding of fresh hatched brine shrimp tonight, I noticed he had a very full belly of shrimp. Since he is mostly clear still, it is easy to see. And as asked above, how many time a day should I be feeding him?

Thanks, you guys have been a big help with all of this.

i would normally recommend feeding 3 times a day however with just one fish this may leave too much uneaten food in the tank. Im not sure how long the shrimp stays alive in freshwater but it may be that you can reduce feeding to twice a day. The frys belly should always be full.
