New Tank Mates 7 Months, 1 Week ago
Some may not agree with my choices. But I purchased
a rope fish and 2 albino frogs the other day and they are still. They make the tank very interesting. My kitty loves the rope fish ~ he sits in front of the tank for hours watching it. I have to admit the rope fish is more active and entertaining then I thought he would be. He's so cute when he gets those lil fins going, lol.

However, as mentioned in another post I have tried Balzini
Geophasgus on two different occasions and both times they never made it through the night. Apparently, these must be one of the Oscars delicacies. Just wanted to share.

Have a great day!

I wouldn't bet that that frog lives to a ripe old age

If the frog is the type my girlfriend bought me (aaaarrrrgggghhh, she phoned me at the store and i told her not to buy anything- it lives in my discus tank) then even full sized it will still be small enough for a full sized oscar to eat. Rehome ASAP would be my advice

sounds like my girlfriend. she wants me to get a frog for the tank even though i told her it wouldn't live. but shes persistent.

and that ropefish might be ok if the os are smaller and its much bigger (of coarse longer) im thinking about getting one for my tank. my o's are still small about 2'' so if i can find a ropefish for a decent price ill probably be taking it home.

I am not familiar with rope fish but i can guess they are long and thin. Make sure the rope fish will not fit in your oscars mouth now or in the future

"OK" Oscars are 6-8" but they are very gentle and so far they have not touched my frogs. Frogs have all thier fingers and toes too. The rope is about 9" long and he is all over the place. The guy in the store said he does not do much but mine is so active. My cats sit in front of the tank for hours watching him ~ Mr. Roper. I paid $11
for him. I think my oscars prefer Balzini Geophagus over frogs, hey their not stupid. I'll keep you posted on the frogs. They are alot of fun to watch and they add a lil life to the bottom.
