HELP!!!!
i have 2 oscars and 1 convict
and the biggest oscar kinda chases the lil
convict....if i get the convict a buddy just a lil bigger then him will my oscar stop picking on him?

i have two oscars
1 is bigger than the other
and i got the smaller one with
the convict ....now the oscars get along
but they leave the convict alone ...
would it be a bad idea to get him a buddy...
will they fight eachother?
for dominance?

if u get a pair, they will pair up and mate....its a given. this probally would ensure the safety of the convicts but im not sure if thats all that great of an idea. oscars grow much faster then convicts, and if hes already smaller, he may end up as food. and do you really want babies? the o's will probally eat them but ya never know.

convicts are really not that agressive unless mating so they will not fight eachother even if u get 2 of the same sex

they are the same aggresiveness as oscars, but when placed with fish with much size difference it can and probally will make a huge difference.

you should be ok though. i would get another convict just because and just put out a lot of places for the convict to hide. rocks, caves, plants, etc. he'll spend lots of time there. unless the convict can fit in the o's mouth, he'll live. the o will bully him but wont do any damage.

how big is the tank btw?

Another convict probably wont help your current one. Is the oscar chasing the convict whenever he is around or is it just occasionally

If the oscar chases the convict occasionally i wouldnt worry about it. However if the oscar is chasing it all the time so the convict hides all the time then you have to ask yourself how happy the convict is.

Oscars generally are not that aggressive and dont hold a grudge . However some are downright mean

well i had 2 oscars 2 convicts 2 clown loaches and 2 plecs in a 65 g the only thing is that the biggest one of the cons kept chasing the smasller one around and just harrassing him in general so when i decided to take one of the cons out i went up to the tsnk to have a look and the smaller one had vanished i narrowed it down to 2 things he either got ate by one of my oscars or he went up the intake tube for my fluval 405
i thought he may have jumped out of my tank but i have got a tight fitting hood so that couldnt have happened,
and after having a good long think i thought that the con couldnt have got ate by one of my o's because my oscars have never tasted live fish before even when i put 2 neons in they just left them alone and never bothered them,
so he must have went up the intake, my oscars never touched the cons unless the biggest one of the cons was chasing the smaller 1 round that my 2 o's chased the biggest one as if they were sorting the bully out, it was quite a scene to watch,
