provided you have enough place for your new oscars to hide you should be able to introduce them into your tank with the older ones.but you should keep an eye on the situation in case problems arise.

fyi...a tank with a 4' footprint is way small for 4 oscars to live in long term. oscar grow at about 1" per month so you'll begin having water problem in a relatively short time. you should start looking now for a tank in the 180 imp gallon range for long term housing of your o's.

best of luck with your new oscars

Hi. I was just wondering if a 6 feet tank will be big enough for a total of 5 oscars?? I have 15 kilo's of thumb sized pebbles. Is it okay for the oscars.??

Introducing an oscar to a tank with an oscar already in it cant be fraught with difficulty. It is much easier when they are like your fish small (and young). You have done the right thing with a divider. Leave them like this for a few weeks or even a couple of months. This gives the fish on either side time to get a territory. Then remove the divider and hope they get on. There will be some squabbling but hopefully things will settle quite quickly

Oscars need 55g minimum for one oscar with an additional 25g for each extra oscar. So for 5 oscars you need at least 155g. If you have 5 oscars in a 55g tank you will doing a lot of tank maintainance, with less oscars it will need less effort to keep them in good water. My advice is test water before a water change. If nothing has gone wrong and you get as result above zero for ammonia and nitrite then you need more filtration. If nitrate are above 40 then you need to do more and/or bigger water changes

You may still get problems with the oscars fighting when they get mature especially if you have 2 or more males, although i have heard that oscars tend to get on well in groups of 6 or more.
