I can't say I'm familiar with the fish you are referring to.however, I have got three Geophagus Jurupari. I certainly wouldn't say the growth rates of these little guys is fast. I bought mine back in October after about 1 inch, I suppose they are just about 3 inches now. as for these guys breeding, I'm afraid I really don't know, having never kept them before, I'm pretty much a novice with them Maybe in a year or so, I will know a little bit more about their breeding behavior. They definitely do not grow as fast as Oscars.

They are lovely fish, I really do like them, I reckon they keep the tank really clean, eating any little bits of food that is left. They sift through the substrate so any bits of food that may have found itsself under the sand, they certainly find that

If you're still reading this board, I just got 6 baby Geophagus Surinamensis from a great seller on AquaBid (seller name is DGA). He bred them himself and at this time has lots available. They're about an inch long and gorgeous-I love em'. They were eating 3 minutes out of the bags and into their tank.
