I have decided to open the forum to everyone to use. You don't necessarily have to become a registered member to post messages, just provide a username when posting.

Please don't misuse the forum or I will have revert back to allowing only registered members use of the forum

I thought I'd better add that posting only as a guest does have a few restrictions. You will not be able to notify yourself of any replies to your thread and you will not be able to edit messages once posted, so if you make a mistake, tough luck

I just wanted to appologize for I caught a dozen Oscars Sunday and we ate them. They were tasty but I did not recognize them. I hadnt fished in Florida lakes since the 70's. Now that I have idetified the fish as Tiger Oscars I am embarassed tht we are eating what others call pets. I hope we can be excused. We are used to catching Bass, Blue gill, brim and in Lake Ockeechobee Crappie and shellcrackers. It is not my fault that somehow someone let Amazon pets go in our lakes and now they have grown big and I am sure that I am not the only person eating them. I dought few folks that are catching and eating them realize that they are pets. Its like eating someones dog. I feel terrible,. What a delima. Should I give up fishing? Maybe catch these giant Oscars and ship them to folks that want them as pets? I am not even sure that I "could" ship them? I have seen stores fill fish bags with oxygen but I have no idea how ong the oxyen last.

Is there a safe way to ship and Oscar lets say overnight air? Heck at $39.95 per 8" fish I'll sell them and eat steak before I will eat another. It is just not going to be the same fishing now that I have read about Oscars and that they are pets. Any suggestions?

I shouldn't worry about it, if I saw Oscar for sale in the supermarket, I might just buy some just to see what it tastes like, it's not as if you are taking your own pet out of your tank and eating it.

You certainly can ship fish overnight, I have bought fish over the Internet. However, I wouldn't like to advise you on the best way of doing it as I've never done it myself.

I better just add that this isn't the right place for posting threads about Oscars, this really belongs in the "Oscar forum"
