How big do gold nugget plecos get? Will they eat algae?

I had one of these a a few weeks ago but unfortunately it died. I believe they reach around 8 inches maximum. If people want pleco, these are definitely some of the best ones to go for, they can be very expensive but at least they don't reach the gargantuan size of the common plecs .there are lots of different species of plecs, not all of them get huge which is why they can be suitable for an average home aquarium. Just remember that these type of fish are nocturnal, so when all the other fish are sleeping, these fish will be active. I personally don't think they should be kept in very small tanks where a lot of disturbance will go on during the night.
