Oooooh, that is so cool!!! I want one. The tank that I have my eye on at the moment would house this fish, and three full grown oscars!!! hehe, but I wont be able to afford that one for quite a few years!!!

I hope it is around 500 gallons then they eat these down in South America. I was watching a programme all about the Amazon and these fishermen caught an absolutely huge one. Seems a real shame to kill it.

I got news for you, They eat OSCARS in some parts of South America too! (I read that somewhere and never found it again), but it did say that Oscars often wind up being consumed for a meal by the locals. Totally understandable too.

It wouldn't be too much different then some of the "local" fishermen here who pull a half dozen sunnys (pumpkinseed, bluegill or similar) or other panfish out of the pond to eat them or even catfish too. Heck, down South the Catfish is a delicacy often on many fine restaurant menus!

That is a real beast. Some kind of catfish. I wonder if it's those that they get up in Canada a lot

I think it is. It's commonly known as a "Channel catfish" and is often found in muddy river bottoms of larger faster moving rivers. Not too far removed from the type of catfish found in smaller bodies of water, ponds, small lakes etc. They can get quite large.
