Actually Penn, I do mean 1,400 GALLONS. I'm building as an attraction to my basement. It will be built on solid cement, and consructed out of a cement block frame and back, with thick plexi glass at the front and side, held in by angle iron.

I'm also making quite high, and not so long, since I'm adding an arowana. It's going in the basement first, before anything else.

1,400 gallon is not the exact size, that's just an approximent result. It may be a lot more, or a little less. Depends how much room I can get when I clear the basement off all the junk i have laying around.

Blimey, that is one monster of a tank. I think you are going to need one heck of a lot of filtration, and I dread to think what sort of heating you will need.

I have to say that it sounds like a very ambitious project. Believe me, when you see the 300 gallon tank I've got here, something over four times larger is something I couldn't possibly imagine having in my house. It's a sort of thing you'd find in a commercial aquarium. I'm not saying you won't manage it, anything is possible if you really want it. Have you thought how much it's going to cost to run this sort of thing? You could be looking at around 5000 W of heating. The pump I am going to be using is 50 W, you're probably looking at over 1000 Watts of electricity to run the pumps on a tank that size. Then you've got the lighting. I reckon you'd be looking at over 1000 Watts there. So, it could be between seven and 10,000 Watts almost continuously. I would hate to see your electricity bill at the end of the year

Well, I've got filteration and other maintanance covered, as for heating I just want to use several 210 or 240 gallon heaters and some warm lights.

I've already charted out all the prices for biulding it and, the way I'm doing it, it should only cost me about five times as much as a 72 gallon would be to buy.
