Since I did not have a lot of time on my hands to visit so often as would wish to do - how big is this 300 gallons? I mean in meters?? I am getting a 2m tank for my 2 Ossies, which is quite big (and we still have to find the right spot for it), but it sounds as if this is the half of yours? I assume that yours is finished, installed and adorable by now?

I wish it was finished, I have Oscars that are ready to move in. I'm hoping that within two weeks, it will be full of water and cycling.

As in metres, it's around 2.4m

Ok.. then mine is not that much smaller.. I think my 2 ossies are also ready to move in - as soon as I receive the tank, I will steadily transfer some of their water into the big one (it is a tank currently in use with inter alia another ossie, big catfish, etc.) - wait a week, transfer some more and in the meantime keep the filtration systems running (I'm receiving the whole system with the tank) and then I'll test and test until I see its ok - not sure how I'm going to transfer Tiggy and Goldie yet, they are damn strong and very hard-headed...

Finally finished the 300 gallon tank. Just waiting for the water to warmup before adding the first of the fish. I will be using some media from my existing filters to seed the new filter. The first fish that will be going in is a pair of Green Severums that my local aquatic Centre had.

Anyway, here are a couple of photos, the second one is my mate standing next to the tank to show the size of the tank. You will notice that the water is stained with tannin. This happens when you put wood in your tank. You would have to soak the wood for a very long time before you eliminate any staining. I actually think it adds to the authenticity of the tank. After all, if you were to go snorkelling in many places in the Amazon, it certainly wouldn't be very clear. If I was to try and make it exactly the same, you wouldn't see any fish at all. In time, the water will probably clear
