Wow, that's quite big. . .perhaps some SA cichlids would make a nice addition to it. Have you considered large cats too? Oh, and there's a place called all glass cages that sell aquariums up to 680 gallons($3500), so It's not going to be the biggest aquariums I've ever seen, but yours looks like it's going to be a real cool one.
Good Luck, Artemis

Finally got an e-mail telling me the tank is going to be delivered on Thursday. I actually got the tank down from 9 feet, to 8 feet. It is actually 8' x 30" x 30". From top of my head, I think that was around 280 gallons. I am also having a sump filter which works out at around 70 gallons.
I'm actually going to understock it rather than going up to the maximum. I want to make it look really nice with a really big piece of wood, maybe some bits of slate. I just have a few fish in around amongst it, and hopefully a couple of breeding Oscars. I was toying with the idea of just having an Amazon tank. Problem is, I can't bear to part with my clown loaches so they will be going in there as well. I'm keeping my 125 gallon just for two Oscars and nothing else. So, we have to decide what else began to put in this big tank. It will have my Oscars, clown loaches, four of them, two big and two small. And one Jade cichlids. I haven't even thought what else to put in there. I did think about maybe a severum and a couple of other fish that don't grow too big. It's going to be fun choosing them any way. I'm going to take one tray of media out of one of my canister filters which should really get the tank going.

I can't wait to see it all set up!
I myself always wanted a green severum and never owned one. maybe down the road...
I might have to try convicts too first..
Aside from Angels for many years, I've not had too many cichlids but admittedly have been bitten by the bug.

Ironically, not only is my tank coming on Thursday, but my vehicle is also being delivered to the garage here on Thursday, I'd waited over a year for it.
Going to go around and see what I can find for the tank. If I put rocks in, they are going to be completely flat bottomed, at least no crap can get underneath. If you put in funny shaped rocks, you'll be amazed how they trap the waste. Ideally, I would want either a white sand or just off white sand. I'd like a few flat rocks and great big piece of wood with branches coming off. Maybe a couple of big bits of mopani. We'll just have to wait and see what I can find

Maybe some peacock bass(cichla temensis) would make a nice addition. They do get big though, very big. . .or you could just throw a gigas in there, only problem is it would grow big enough to swallow your tank in a few years...
