Cycling a Fish Tank 7 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Do I start the nitrate cycle with the decor and stuff in there or do I add the decor after the cycle?

Just set up your tank like how you would like it once your oscars are ready to be introduced. I don't think it will hurt. If anything it will give your tank more surface area for bacteria to cling to. Happy cycling, i just finished mine

i would pesonally say setup the tank like u want it and then start adding water to start cycling.

its not such a great job hanging over a full tank trying to place plants, rocks, gravel ect.

plants also help with cycling a tank but be aware that once yr O's grow up there is a good possibality that they will eat all yr plants.

Re:Cycling a Fish Tank 6 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Ok. I am purchasing a new tank and what is the proper way to cycle it?

I set it up. Fill it with water then what? Does there need to be fish in it to cycle it, or do I just let it run empty? Do I move the fish over after the levels have all dropped out?

If I do put fish in it to cycle it... what fish do I use? And why is it OK to put those fish in the tank when cycling. I don't know, I guess I am a bit confused with this while thing.

Thanks.
